Good point. A reasonable, and non-confusing, way to teach tour kids that physically harming others is wrong than by physically harming them. Kids really learn from irony that leaves marks about the face and genitalia.

We used to frequent a now-closed French restaurant in the DC area. The owner/chef and his wife were French, and once a year, they would close the restaurant, take a month off and go home to visit family. (The restaurant is closed because the owner/chef retired, not because of this policy. ;) )

I second that. I'd also like to add that I am amazed and humbled by Kat's patience with questions from those commenters like myself who are—even in a ham-handed way—trying to get it right.

@sulayman: I couldn't agree more with both of you. I'd make a point of bouncing on my seat back if someone refused to remove those things.
