I don’t recall if there was a formal name to the system used for that class. The prof didn’t utilize an online portal to turn in work so the ID numbers worked better because he’d just have a stack of papers with no names.

I want to believe this will be a watershed moment and soon more guilty verdicts (even if this one was for a lot less than it should have been) will come through and some accountability will be had. But alas I know it won’t come and we’ll continue to cling to any bit of possible good news.

yeah, most of the profs wouldn’t use the random number or ID for student grades. The ones who did use the system still got to know you, but they did their best to not try and associate you with your “secret” ID. I’m assuming you mean you’re at UofA? At ASU I had a few instructors who practiced this, using numbers that were randomly generated. crazy thing was that the instructor only knew who had what number at the end of the semester. we literally got a random number generated and used it as our “name” on all papers and online assignments.
