Uses? A digital frame where you can send photos - or sync to Facebook, maybe. I don't know if this is within the ambit, but fetching images from the card on demand rather than depending on it to send them over at some schedule.

Another way to look at this is, the non-geek-not-already-on-Foursquare crowd just wasn't big enough to bother. I think Foursquare's valuation is mostly bullcrap.
