When you say less conservative, what are we referring to? I pray, I fast, I pay zakat and wear the hijab. I also support the separation of church & state, gay marriage & abortion. Am I a liberal, moderate or conservative Muslim?

There’s a couple of ways to answer this but the way I would respond is that your post (and the OP’s) implies there is this one single version of “Orthodox Islam” when there simply isn’t. When we say Orthodox Islam, do we mean Sunni or Shi’a? Salafi or Sufi? If it’s Sunni, do we follow a madhab? If it’s Shia, do we…
