I don’t play horror games for other reasons besides jump scares, but it was the most salient point from the article. Not a big fan of gore amongst other things, so horror games usually aren’t my cup of tea.

I haven’t but I heard of it when it came out! When it was getting rave reviews I checked out the plot (yes, I am that type of person) to see what it was all about and it sounds very, very good. Also very gorey. I still might check it out, my memory sucks anyway so I forgot most of the details.
And the last sentence is why I often opt out of horror movies or games. The stories and lore are often interesting enough in their own right, but I do not handle jump scares. At all.*
Hi Dissapointed, I’m Excited, nice to meet you ;)
The combat system is, initially, so very cluttered, messy and not beginner friendly at all.
So much love for the Welsh cat.
I’ll chime in because it doesn’t get mentioned enough that the creators of Avatar had a very strong writing team, which definitely helped the show’s quality.
As someone who worked in an education setting for about 4-7 years (some was schooling, but it always involved practical training), you hit the mark about maintaining optimism despite everything.
Your recollection is correct, however the DS port of Trigger added a new scenario (by Kato, the original writer) that, in the end, saw Janus/Magus voluntarily lose his memories and end up in a forest-like area.
My heart broke just a little bit more thanks to that.
I mean that statue, but the wiki entry that I linked states that the original name has a few interpretations into English.
I care about my countless capsule toys, I’m glad a game exists that cares about it too! (I kid, I don’t collect capsule toys).
There is no question that the pose is absolutely ridiculous. It’s unnatural, silly looking, and completely absurd.
Apparently (and I just learned this yesterday elsewhere, but the fanbase figured it out already?), the pose is inspired by “The Rape of the Sabine Women,” something from Roman mythology.
Fly you fools!
Isn’t Tatami Galaxy based on a series? I can definitely see it being up Yuasa’s alley though.
Have you heard of (or seen) Devilman Crybaby? It’s the same director (as pointed out in the article). Considering his other works, weird is Masaaki Yuasa’s thing.
That’s probably the closest thing to a proper interpretation, thanks!
Sorry, would you mind explaining it? I know *of* Brave Fencer Musashi but never played it (went from SNES to PS2, so skipped N64/PS1).
Because Hayter was the voice of Snake (in various forms) for nearly 20 years or so at MGSV’s release. He was almost as much as the “face” of Metal Gear as much as Kojima (in the west anyway). Getting bumped off like that, with no notification despite being in the role for 10+ years, is a pretty douche move on Kojima’s…
