The latter. Every first date is so breathlessly reported on that it comes off as some sort of instant true love when half the time it’s probably platonic.

I had in mind the scene where the camera pans into Denzel Washington’s face during that moment of spiritual revelation backed up by a solemn
“What if Japan hadn’t been brought to surrender in 1945 by the 2 nukes”
Not every movie needs to, but this one did.
They both agree to make all female roles either The Wife or poorly written.

Mookie: What’s that, Mayor?

Mookie: Yeah... um ok. See you later!
Make the delivery of the speeches unintelligible with shitty sound mixing?

I could see a closing credits montage of archival footage and such (e.g., actual images of radiation poisoning, etc.) - seems like the type of thing that Spike Lee might have done had he directed it.
*Spike Lee angrily tweets Alan Oppenheimer’s home address*
There was an article that popped up right after the DV charges came up, where basically he was all but fired after the third season because of just being an immature jackass (at best). With this article, it seems like Harmon is probably the only reason Roiland wasn’t fired outright.
Roiland had the Golden Ticket in his hand, and he fucked it all up by getting butthurt about Harmon adding staffers to pick up his slack. All he had to do was toss out a few ideas, run lines in the audio booth, and collect his check.
But noooo....he had to be a whiny man-child and wipe his ass with that Ticket. He…
It might be a good idea to watch one of the later season episodes. I tried getting into RaM with the first season episodes and bounced off it - but then I watched some Season 4 episodes and got hooked (I still haven’t seen most of the first two seasons of episodes).
Matt Groening invented the model by accident. Trey Parker and Matt Stone were the ones that maximized it. Everyone else is just chasing them. Roiland was getting executive producer, creator, and actor money and he blew it all.
Hell, a good amount of animation people are like this even outside Cal Arts. Matt Groening does little to no actual production for his shows, nor does Seth MacFarlane (but at least with him he’s acting in them extensively)
Since I’m curious, I’ll have to go to IMDb and look at how many episodes Roiland was credited as a writer after season one.
Well, my guess is that he wasn’t as talented as these writers and couldn’t come up with better ideas. Which is in no way something to be ashamed of but still very hard to face and accept.
Might have been very hard for him to be the face of the show and at the seeing the show taken away from him creatively.
It’s a…
There was no real need beforehand for us to know what Roiland's creative involvement was. Given that Roiland did the central voices and was essentially the face of the franchise, he was protected a lot.
“Oh, Harmon brought in his Harmon writers.”
That right there...Justin could have brought in his own writers. Or written more himself. He was co-creator and executive producer of the show, there was nothing stopping him.
But he didn’t seem interested in that. By all the accounts I’ve seen (including Harmon’s), Justin…
It’s crazy that we didn’t hear that Roiland wasn’t involved creatively with the show and was just doing voices until the abuse allegations against him come out. It was several seasons that people thought he was still doing writing for it. I wonder how that story didn’t get out until last year.
Wow, that’s pretty on the money.
