Is his philanthropy “ostensible charity” that is “helping” people, or is it actual charity that is helping people...?

Yeah, all the adults in general, with the exception of Ricci, were very poorly cast.

Agreed.

I never said he had to die, simply that he wouldn’t escape. That could’ve been that way, or it could’ve just been him sacrificing his freedom to keep Kang busy while the others escaped — which he did — but without Hope coming back for him. Or she does come back and they both get stuck there.

Thanks — I wasn’t aware of all that, but you can definitely “feel” it in the plot beats at the end.

I fully believe him that they “didn’t change the third act” in the sense of the big climactic battle, but it REALLY seemed like they might’ve had an alternate fate for Scott at the very end of his little wrestling match with Kang in the last quantum-realm scene after everyone else has already gone thru the portal. I

the source material is irrelevantis such a hot take, I’m just going to let that one stand as the last word.

Does, say, April work for you...?

Hilarious that the folks angry that she’s “making money for doing nothing” are the same ones driving 5.9M views to her YouTube channel to argue about it, thereby allowing for her to make money while doing nothing...

Where did I suggest they weren’t allowed to?

Yes, as someone who’s neither White, Asian, nor Jewish, I was also unaware of whether or not Jenny Slate was Jewish. I just assumed they called her character “Big Nose” because she literally just had a bigger nose than they did, and they didn’t like her so they were ridiculing her behind her back. Sometimes a hot dog

because the movie would be taking away a character I really like for one I barely know.

Agreed. Many of us are incredibly spoiled as moviegoing fans at this point and have forgotten exactly how poorly made and bad looking these films used to be, only a bit more than a dozen years ago. Each massive success only raises the bar for the next outing to somehow equal or top — and that is unsustainable by

I agree with this in principle — especially considering the sharp turn Quantumania takes at the very end of the last act; where after the whole film it seems [SPOILERS COMING] like they’re telegraphing a huge father-sacrifices-for-his-daughter moment at the end, and after they actually DO set it up, Hope comes back

Right?

Which is interesting, because I was a bigger X-Men zombie than anyone from Giant Size X-Men #1 up until the worst of the 1990s (though I came back for Morrison), but I have zero interest in the sort of “mutant factory” crap they started turning out after that, so I hope the films will aim low, when it comes to

I mean, I think anyone who has read the comics has a pretty good “idea of” where things are going.

Exactly.

>> “The Doctor Strange sequel which, much like Quantumania, failed to wow critics, actually had the best opening of any film last year...” <<

....and David Letterman did it in multiple places, decades ago, as a regular bit.
