It is an autopilot that functions as the word autopilot actually means rather than what people who don’t know how it functions thinks it means.

If they trust the manufacturers claims sure. If the manufacturer says “read this to know the limitations”, and you go “No, I don’t want to read, I am going to ASSUME this is safe to use in this manner” , they you should go to jail.
We could do that for all cars now. We could require every lowjacked car calls the cops if you speed. Why don’t we?
Because its criminally negligent if you kill some family in a minivan because someone is like “read manual? Lol NOPE!”
No, people should be punished for not knowing what a car can do before they get behind the wheel. These are adults operating a motor vehicle which is easily capable of killing an entire family due to carelessness. They deserve jail time. They are adults, not children and don’t need to be coddled. Its no different than…
How should Tesla better explain when people (as you said) don’t read the full explanation now? Regardless of anything Tesla does, those people need to spend time in Jail.
If TESLA told you its OK to run people over with your car, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go to jail when you do. It means TESLA may also get in trouble, but you absolutely should too. A company is not the government.
They absolutely do cover it. You are always supposed to be fully in care and control of your vehicle and know how to operate every function of your vehicle. At least here you are technically required (though no one does) to do an inspection of your vehicle before each operation to ensure it is in full working order…
If the user is a licensed individual who is operating a dangerous machine capable of killing others it is.
They got a drivers license and then got behind the wheel of a car where the slightest miscalculation could kill entire families.
To be fair, if you don’t recall when Cruise Control first came out the exact same arguments were used by morons of the time that regardless of if the name was technically correct, people thought you could turn it on and stop paying attention.
If these were cans of soda pop I’d agree with you. But it is an automobile and you need a license to use one and it is a serious matter to be behind the wheel. If they called it “Magical device that lets you sleep behind the wheel” I would still fully expect the government to arrest any idiot who did that. I don’t…
