No they can’t *know.* Kids are very impressionable. Regardless, the school district, a public entity, cannot lawfully punish these students.

They weren’t at school, physically at a school event, or using school resources. If the school could punish them for this, then it could punish them for literally any transgression one might imagine, however remote/detached from school life it may be.

The outraged worked: she listened, admitted fault, apologized, and stated intent to change course - yet somehow I am guessing people will continue criticizing her for her original intent and initial response.
