It’s not even that. Despite all the claims of wanting moderate politics on Israel-Palestine the idea of a middle ground is apparently a no-no.

What about all those ‘shovel ready projects’ during the Obama Administration. I’m not defending Trump, just stating that billions and billions of dollars were spent on unnecessary projects throughout the US to stimulate the economy, while needed work was left to wither on the vine.
One might wonder then, why California—which is a solidly blue state—didn’t get to work on fixing the dam earlier. Surely a dam that’s built and operated by California for the purpose of making sure the whole state would have a reliable supply of drinking water would be insulated from right-wing shenanigans.
Or, in another scenario, the uncontrolled water simply destroys the “non-dam” part of the dam. In which case the official “dam” is intact but there is no water left.

This isn’t an infrastructure issue. It’s an unexpected amount of water issue. Even when the dam was brand new it wouldn’t be able to handle this.
