I recently rewatched it, and it certainly struck me that if the movie was made today, you’d have a bunch of people raised on CinemaSins whining about how the “rules” are never explained. But it truly just never crosses your mind when you’re actually watching the thing, and you just accept its existence as a one of a

When I saw this (gulp) 25 years ago, I was blown away by both the movie and the soundtrack - which works perfectly with everything happening onscreen.

The main reason to dislike the Bourne sequels is, of course, that hack Palsy Greengrass directing them.

And one of the best showcases for Franka Potente, one of the great down to earth and yet ethereal movie stars

The movie also provides a nice little snap shot in time of post-unification Berlin when it was still in its Bohemian stage.

There are a few movies I hold in my heart as the platonic ideal of film, and this is one of them. I actually just rewatched it last week and it still grabs me from frame one and doesn’t let go until the credits roll.

I was introduced to the film when I was in high school, taking german class, and it was a mind-blowing introduction to modern European cinema and way more interesting than the stupid TV show designed for learners we also had to watch. A couple of years later in University it was one of the first movies I acquired in a

People are still actively thinking Homelander is the ‘hero’ - I’m okay with all restraint going out the window, and just being like, “This Is Bad!”

It’s strange how people are just feeling this now, since I’ve been seeing the obviousness of it all since at least season 2 where Stormfront paraphrases with, “Make America safe again,” and is an actual nazi. It’s just something I’ve had to give a pass. At least it’s funny when the neocons are somehow too slow to

I don’t know how the stray observations gets a mention of Sage and Deep hooking up but makes no mention of the lobotomy. At first I thought it was a hatpin and she stabbed a doordash delivery person or something to take out aggression, then after rewinding a couple times I realized it was for a lobotomy.

I thought Jesus cutting off some poor woman’s fingers with the skate was a nice touch. It made sense, her hand was on the ice. But when he jumped over the railing and slit that person’s throat, that just seemed too unlikely and got an eye roll.

The comics were a bitter and entirely justified rage against George W Bush and post-9/11 America. This might not be the right tv show for you if hitting hard at Trump is off putting.

I read through the whole comic series for the first time last Christmas. Let's just say that reading that very much made me appreciate everything the show has ever done.

Anyone who uses the term “TDS” unironically is not a serious person. An idiot, if you will.

It might be a kind of boring reflection of reality but there literally are people trying to shoot up pizza parlors and goddamn actual Nazis out there who think others shouldn’t have rights because of their skin color.  It might be lazy but it’s nothing like ‘TDS’.

Thank you!! Glad this is the top comment because I saw the sub-headline and immediately ran to the comments to remind everyone that Turning Red was an excellent recent Pixar release. It really sucks it didn’t get a regular theatrical release. Luca was wonderful too.

Imagine trying to apply this line of reasoning to other situations. “Oh, that’s just Lee Harvey Oswald being Lee Harvey Oswald. Nothing we can do about it!

I finally saw Luca earlier this year and I absolutely loved it. Loved. I think it’s a great Pixar movie.

Loved Turning Red, Soul, and Luca, but I thought we all agreed that Elemental was terrible (“terrible” in terms of Pixar which is still okay).

My 2- and 3-year-old daughters watch Turning Red (or as they call it, Red Panda) about 5 times a week.
