total copout. disappointing how many people are making excuses for this laziness, too.

shockingly great example. even if it is sometimes clumsily handled, the ongoing destruction of the planet is a throughline throughout VII. Hell, the ending saves the planet... but it’s not even necessarily “happy.”

I haven’t played the game nor willing to, so I’m engaging strictly with the OP argument of “well why expect more.”

a. i’m same age and probably older than you. Just because you didn’t see or engage with more sophisticated media doesn’t mean it wasn’t there.

I think that’s a disingenuous take. It absolves the development team for introducing deep ideas they couldn’t —- or wouldn’t —- deal with in any significant manner. The game explicitly sets up a world where slavery exists in mass form; the game is responsible for then navigating that appropriately.

it’s fine to deviate,it’s an adaptation... but i can’t say any of the choices they made were better or equal. i’m not a diehard fan, played the game, read some of the books, but man i lost interest during s2. tried s3 and got two episodes. it was boring! that’s like, the ultimate crime! All this work put in by the

Rhodey being a Skrull “since Civil War” is just for shock value without consideration of what it means or WHY. I have zero faith that Armor Wars is going to do anything outstanding with that conceit, so all it does is rob the MCU of a disabled hero and remove actual Rhodey from a lot of great moments. I didn’t... but I find myself watching less and less. Still haven’t seen Wakanda Forever. Dropped out of Moon Knight. Enjoyed AntMan3 in the theatre, no desire to revisit it. Might watch Multiverse of Madness again but skip the first 45 minutes or so. I really just want to watch the full Raimi third act.

Or to tell the story that we’re telling?” he’s “content with what he accomplished.”

mmmm. I’d love to see what a creative, talented, iconoclastic filmmaker could do with the last battle. there are some powerful, weighty themes in it. It just couldn’t at all be done as a straightforward adaptation. Silver Chair is good too.

It is absolutely galling how so many middle-aged or older men are clutching pearls about the BARBIE movie.

Even then I had to re-read that line three times to fully understand the sentence.

My eyes ran over the hairy expanse of Dov’s thighs and settled on the bulge in his underwear. It struck me as kind of profound that whatever was covered there by a few cubic inches of American-made cotton could be the root of so much turmoil. Truly the crotch that launched a thousand ships.”

Shut the fuck up.

Shut the fuck up.

I think one of the issues ... i dunno... with the current marvel phase is how long it is taking them to get the new characters together.

My 9yo saw the trailer before Elemental and is now obsessed with seeing it.

The other aspect of this is the loss of the home video market. Go check out Matt Damon’s “Hot Ones” episode. He lays it out so absurdly clearly. The loss of that income stream was massive.
