“I was saying Blue-tista!”

I watched WWE for decades. I really didn’t care much for Batista; your take is absolutely fair/correct. He had the really great face turn vs HHH, and the last few months glory of his delusional heel. A lot of his career was ... fine. But like Cena, he was overpushed.

He’s said that a few times, he’s all-in on trying to be an *actor*, not an action star or movie star. He’s WORKED at it and it shows. And he was already like, 40 when he tried to make the switch.

All mid-level movies that did fine, not blockbusters. I remember The interview receiving a fair amount of scorn. But not like Franco/Rogen as a duo was Sandler/Farley level.

Dude has *worked* at it. I’m happy for him.

WHERE’S

MY

SPOTLIGHT

Agreed. Knocked Up was Rogen’s big movie launchpad, not anything with Franco. I’m not even sure any of the big Franco/Rogen collabs are nearly as big hits as projects they’ve done without each other.

Also, huh? He is (was) VERY successful, and he is gorgeous. Albeit that can be subjective, but Franco is fairly easy to put in the “handsome” category. Those laugh lines...

“beneath" lol. He's clearly enjoying himself and his contributions to the first flick are what made it fun. Wtf elitism are you on about?

I honestly think people are misremembering venom. Outside of his first story or two, he’s had comedy as part of his shtick forever. ESPECIALLY when they gave him his first mini and leaned into him as an antihero.

Nah, I loved Venom. And venom being darkly funny is fairly in line with 90s antihero venom.

Not it at all. See Triohead’s response below.

I don’t even know of a crossover I could say I really enjoy. I generally hate them for disrupting good stories going on in the actual books I’m reading.

I like Carnage enough too, he was just SO fucking overexposed. Even dumb teen me read that crossover and thought: They’re killing HOW MANY people and the only people who show up to fight Carnager and his c-list losers are Cap, Deathlok, and some other d-tier heroes? Like, I get it, “comics,” but whoooooof. FOURTEEN.

Ugh. I tried to do a free account on the Times, but it requires payment up front so no. Let me dig up the other article I read on this today, had some better quotes. AVClub definitely is leaving out a bunch of better quotes.

I said this on iO9, but as a Nineties Teen(tm), I was smack-dab in the middle of the target market for VENOM: LETHAL PROTECTORRRR and MAXIMUM CARNAGGGGE the MULTIMEDIA EXPERIENNNNNCE

I skipped it up until like, last... December? I was bored, it was on Netflix, I gave it a whirl.

So?

One of the parts in the interview, which AV Club doesn’t include, is that Rogen is clearly troubled by all of this --- because this dude was, like, one of his best friends. Franco can get fucked for this clear pattern of abuse. I wouldn’t rush to lambaste Rogen for not recognizing or having a hard time coming to terms

get tae fuck.
