1) george has been a long-time supporter of things here in cincinnati. he shot a film here a couple of years ago, and he was, in fact, two blocks up the street from me in northside (a small, awesome, eclectic neighborhood about 10-15 minutes north of downtown, but i’m biased ‘cos i’ve lived here on and off for about

:( i hope they will be okay.

i don’t know if anyone posted this already, because there are so many posts even in the last few minutes. but are there other kids in this household? if so, they need to be taken somewhere else - to stay with family or family friends or something like that. besides being traumatized by their sister’s death, there’s a

sigh. i kiiiiiinda feel like katy’s sad because she doesn’t get as much attention.

right!? i was also thinking about how much she obviously *loves* to sing. there is just so much light and joy coming from that face. <3

she's not even fucking around with that autotune or that reverb or what-have-you. she's the real deal and i luv her to bits.

yay! i read "i, tituba" as an undergrad in a women's studies course, and then later in grad school, norton's book, so i'm always interested in a conversation about the trials. one of my professors said that basically the trials were like the hatfields and mccoys gone off the rails. she theorized that arguments between

indeed! there are also two other intriguing theories about the salem trials, both of which are taken up in mary beth norton's excellent book, "in the devil's snare: the salem witchcraft crisis of 1692." (a review here: http://www.common-place.org/vol-03/no-02/r…) one theory is that new englanders had become more and

little nervous about how tituba's story will be told. it could really get into blame the victim territory. or it could devolve into "look at the crazy witchy woman from barbados who's out to get everyone." it could be a real shitshow if not done carefully. however, i will say that if anyone can write this with some

she follows you?! wow!

i'm a huge fan of your kinja account name. so smart. :)

"do i wanna know" is indeed so, so hot. also, "why'd you only call me when you're high" is one of my current car jams. yummy.

musicians like kanye and beyonce seem to get carte blanche at their labels as well. so they are getting a nice payday *and* doing what they like to do musically. in the grand scheme of things, grammys for them aren't vital. so kanye's stunt just comes across as petty to me.

i've read some arguments today about how

i wrote the SAME thing on twitter this morning (minus the racist part). it's like bargaining with god, "please just let me get through today and i promise i'll [fill in the blank]." you just hope he'll sit in front of the tv with his beer and pass out after the turkey.

i appreciate that. it seems we all have to carry the burden of kanye at some point.

i can't help but wonder if kanye's publicist wishes they could call in dead today. and i guess if kanye's career really tanks, he can work as beyonce's publicist.

brilliant.

thanks! :)

oh! my icon is a painting by yoshitomo nara. he's amazing! :)

yup. it was pretty great. don't forget purrfriend in a coma. (don't worry, i'm groaning at my own attempt at a moz pun.)

yeah, beck's record came out in *february* of 2014, so that's a lot of time to forget it. and it wasn't as bombastic as midnight vultures, so maybe that had something to do with why it wasn't all over the place all year. i do hope that kanye's bump will help beck, because he makes some amazing art. (and so does
