This is a great story, but I'm torn on whether I should believe you or not.

I am reminded of an hilarious illustrated flyer I received when visiting Yellowstone about 20 years ago. It featured a buffalo attacking a tourist in shorts and with a camera, knocking him off his feet so hard that his camera and baseball cap were flying into the air. The caption read, MANY VISITORS HAVE BEEN GORED BY

Don't watch it Kumagoro… I beg of you. I agree with all of SG Standards' points below.

Another great recap! With your thorough recounting of the episode, I am imagining all the characters running around to Yakety Sax…

Your experience must have been very different from mine, because I saw the Depraved Bisexual trope a lot, especially in the Bertrice Small, Virginia Coffman and Becky Lee Weyrich novels I've read. (There's even been complaints over on the Smart Bitches site about the use of the trope.) As far as I can tell, I think it

Great review, and you're right— the little girl at the end was the same kid as in the pilot!

Wow. After this episode, I feel as if my long-tested faith in the showrunners has been vindicated. That was quite possibly one of the most amazing hours of television I have ever seen in my life. I still have chills from the closing scene…

Romance novels in the '70s and '80s were filled with the Depraved Bisexual trope, and when I read Outlander in the mid '90s it seemed pretty much more of the same. I was not impressed.

Tell me about it. I hated the first Outlander book with the blazing intensity of a thousand burning suns— but I watched first couple of episodes of the show because, hey, COSTUMES! But nope, I was still repelled by the source material, so I stopped watching.

This show vacillates between being a great ensemble drama with amazing acting to a really silly and contrived soap opera. Oh well… at least it hasn't jumped the shark the way REIGN did in its second season.

Cool. I wish there was a permanent archive of your Pedantic Recaps somewhere (I really don't trust Disqus).

BTW, is this a recap of Episodes 3 and 4? I didn't notice a recap for #3 when I scanned through the comments.

Your Pedantic Recaps are truly works of art. I doff my cap to you, sir!

Yup! RUINED is set in 1804. (I worked on the comic as a historical consultant.)

I've noticed! I really enjoyed your cautiously optimistic comments at the beginning of the season, and I've noticed how increasingly… less than impressed you have become by this season's developments.

Kumagoro! Have you given up your Pedantic Recaps? I didn't see any for the last episode… *sobs*

I love princess shit unironically but this is gross on so many levels. Just don't go there, Disney.

I tried to watch it recently for the first time, and I couldn't stomach the gay jokes. It was just far too unpleasant for me to enjoy, even ironically.

Yeah, I'm much in the same boat. My parents were in their 30s in the '60s and didn't really listen to rock (they listened to jazz), so the typical classic rock thing was never around when I was little. I 'rebelled' by pissing off my dad at listening to the Beatles at obscenely loud volumes around 1987 or so.

Yeah, I agree. The Prequels are an amazing trainwreck on about every level. I haven't seen the Plinkett reviews in a few years, but I think they did a great job of breaking down why those movies just don't work.
