When did minimalism become more than a design aesthetic? That’s all it is to me. A clean, uncluttered look. I still have all the stuff, it’s just hidden in drawers and cabinets and closets.

Poorly done, poorly thought out, minimalism leads to the “throwaway” lifestyle that is destroying our world. People buy stuff, use it briefly, then toss it, to save caring for it and space because if they ever need one of those again they can easily buy another one. It can become the opposite of the frugal “use it up,

That’s the danger of taking something to the extreme. I love the minimalist style but it’s not necessarily cheaper than others. I think it’s simpler, clearer and all around better for my well-being.

This post echoes a concern I always have, but I have never thought minimalism was meant for me or people like me.

My Macbook Pro was stolen a while back and after not living with it for a while I realized that I only used a small fraction of its capability.
