They made me pay a $50 deductible for not using a Pepboys or some other janky place instead of a BMW dealer that I choose for my repair on my X1.  I think someone giving you the runaround.  I just did this three weeks ago.

This is false, I have a warranty with Silver Rock on my X1 and you pay a $50 fee if it’s not an authorized repair place.  Just did it a few weeks ago for brake sensors at my local BMW dealership.
