I haven’t played some of the newer games on this list, but the Frozen Wilds DLC from Horizon Zero Dawn has what I feel like is some of the best snow in a video game. By extension, I guess the snow in Death Stranding is also very good? Same engine after all.

The GOTY medley at the end of the show was also rad.

It’s just so early.

I don’t want to say this is exactly what I expected to read about this game, but it sounds a lot like what I imagined I would be reading about this game. From these impressions, it sounds like a game I’ll have fun playing. Just not right away.

Gonna do a lot of reading and listening to what people have to say about Cyberpunk. I don’t have time for that game right now anyway, but I want to know what the game is actually like after weathering the marketing (and the discourse around that marketing) to this point.

Just can’t say how stoked I am to not be buying one of these things yet. Launch windows - what a concept.

Ok now there I feel your pain. They really need to take a look at how Stasis works with quest steps and bounties. Try getting grenade kills with a Stasis grenade. Everything is a shatter kill instead. Also, Cryoclasm kills while you’re in your Super? Doesn’t count. Doesn’t feel good.

I think you’re sleeping on that punch. It’s pretty good just as a movement ability, but you can also Doomfist dudes into walls if you hit the right angle. Plus, it’s better as a finisher than an opener. What it needs help with is hit detection. There are plenty of times where I can’t rationalize why it misses.

You’ve got a point on the knives, but there have been a lot of times when I was trying to throw a smoke at my feet to vanish and punched whatever is bearing down on me instead.

The bit about the Warlock melee nerf that really irks me is that it doesn’t account for the weird decision to not let you default to powered melee attack. With Stasis, Warlocks have caught the weird Hunter disease where if an enemy is within 6 meters of you and you have your melee ability up, you’ll just hit them with

Tell ‘em, Ethan.

I would agree with this if I hadn’t had to buy so many of the damn things after the sticks developed horrific dead zones and drifting. I remember the PS3 controller, though, and this one is so much better to hold.

It’s wearying to even hear about Nintendo’s legal bullying at this point, let alone to have to deal with it affecting what are in some cases peoples’ livelihoods. I hope the Smash community can rally through and past this. They need some kind of break this year.

legit they should disqualify games that feel like they came out more than a lifetime ago

I’ve heard people are already writing off the Wrathborn hunts after a single day, the same way they’re already writing off the season after a week. They’re a nice way to target slots for leveling, and the weapons seem pretty cool. I’d like to get a good roll on the wave launcher for sure.

My oldest gaming buddies are my brothers. I started out watching them play stuff, and then Smash came out and we played that what felt like every day until the oldest went off to college.

Yeah I enjoyed this a lot more than the Almighty. For one thing it was shorter. But for another, it pulls at some emotional threads in the way that the other event didn’t. The scene on the director in particular is a nice little callback.

Whatever game I’m really into at the moment can do this for me. Like right now I’m hardlining Hades and thinking about it in many of the minutes there are in a day (currently experiencing withdrawal, too, while my PC is out of commission).

O morning music comments, hear my PC building woes.

Not all that surprised, honestly. And with the way things go, I could see it slipping to 2022. I think when this game does come out, that would be a pretty decent signal to me that it’s time to get a PS5. Demon’s Souls aside, I kind of doubt needing to get one for any other games prior to that.
