@Skutarth: What are you talking about? If you choose to use Steamworks for a title you most certainly are NOT locked into only using Steamworks.

Leaving aside other companies, does this now mean that they're literally not going to stock Valve games? Games which are some of the biggest sellers on the PC?
@Jason Jones: Correction: Dead, and paying $60 a year for it.
They have it backwards.
@DocSeuss: I wouldn't be so fast to lay that at the "indie mindset" as such. This is the ranting of a competitor who couldn't compete.
It's almost like this whole thing was predictable years ago if they just hadn't been so stupid about everything...
Cult Favourite? The last game in the series sold over 2 million units.
@GeneralBattuta: Portal 2 meanwhile has a full co-op campaign, but unlike most games it's completely separate and differentiated from the main singleplayer campaign, and they're both of equal length.
@GunFlame: Get equipped with Metal Blades: Why force themselves to do things that they've got no knowledge or expertise in? That's actually one of the things I like about Valve, they don't do crappy stuff just to be different. They bring in people with various backgrounds, and from there the projects tend to spawn.
@N-Robes:
@Slanzinger: I play TF2 on and off every few months, but I pretty much find it easy enough to get back into.
@WittyUserName: Yeah it's weird hearing him speak for the first time. They even deliberately made the decision not to have him speak in the official Penny Arcade games.
@Odin: Of course it SOUNDS believable, it'd be pointless if it didn't. And the fact that he produces content that's "easily verified" is pretty much the point, all the information is in the public domain and easily accessible.
@Odin: Indeed, a random and completely anonymous blog with no factual proof to its authenticity is something that we should totally regard without scepticism, especially over anything the company themselves say (unless of course, they ADMIT that it's true, then they're telling the truth).
@Odin: That blog's pretty much regarded as a fake.
@rebelphoenix1983: Are you kidding? Before Half-Life 2 they pretty much had a reputation for never releasing anything, but in the past few years we've had the Orange Box (three titles), Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 (L4D2 was released within a year), heck, even Alien Swarm. And that's leaving aside all the nutty stuff they've…
@Kyosuke_Nanbu: Funny, my definition of a failure of a company is one that releases games that are crap.
@Don't forget to bring a towel!: Proof, pudding, etc. etc.
@wocalax: So how was your reaction to Valve trademarking Team Fortress then?
