@Ben Nadler: Usually companies prefer not to announce or build any real hype for a release unless it's coming soon.

@Toshi: Mass Effect 1 was released back in November 2007. Mass Effect 2, at the very start of this year, so say a little over 2 years development time.

@Mastrix: My first piece of advice is do not read the Steam forums.

@DocSeuss: I think I see where you're coming from.

@DocSeuss: This is getting increasingly tangential now, but there's a really good interview with Richard Morgan where he touches on this.

@DocSeuss: We MUST have been playing different games then.

@DocSeuss: I was just being sarcastic. The "maturity" of Gears only extends to having extreme amounts of gore, and not much else. The storyline alone would insult the very napkin it was written on.

@ArcticVaranus: I don't know about that, not every fighting has to be balanced to perfection. Some fighting games have different objectives for different markets.

@Archaotic: Yeah they managed to make the release of Halo 3 an event, something that was covered even in the news. Grief, even the BBC was talking about the launch, it was ridiculous.

@GregoriusH: You know, just because Greenberg's making a retarded attempt at a platform superiority play doesn't mean you have to play along.

@DocSeuss: If I didn't capitalise the D then people wouldn't realise how important it was to the maturity of the setting.

Didn't Modern Warfare 2 outsell Halo 3 though?

@elevenoverzero: Shhh, he hasn't realised, you'll ruin the surprise!

@Deanb: A few of them? I'm pretty certain that at the moment those are the only three.
