@subedii: One more, sorry about that. But trust me, it's a biggie.

@Darlan: If Microsoft REALLY wants to push GFWL, then yes, they definitely need a killer-app like getting Halo back on the system.

@RockyRan: Eh, personally I got PoP1 off of GOG.com alongside Beyond Good and Evil in a package deal. Cheap, and DRM free. I'd say that's about as good as I could ask for.

@subedii: Forgot one, region support lockout. If you tie your GFWL game to an account that is in a country that is not supported, GFWL will refuse to allow you to play. No I am not joking.

@Batman: Well for one, Valve aren't public, and as such aren't really up for sale. And I can't see Gabe Newell willingly handing control back to MS anyway after having left it in order to be able to make games in the first place. Did you know that he was one of the big proponents of gaming on the Windows platform?

@VladMalice: To be blunt, Steam has plenty of deals that I'm not worried about "missing out" on anything. And I'd much rather purchase elsewhere than have them saddled with GFWL, which really is atrocious as a community system.

@Franky_AAA: First, I apologise, this is going to be long. But you're wondering why people dislike GFWL.

@Faux Bravo: I will say upfront that it's been a very polarising game. Personally I don't have any issues with the gameplay (if you're familiar with Deus Ex and how your skills were rubbish until you invested in them, then think along those lines), and never really had any bugs either. Reading some review complaints

@KillerBeeTX: Well the good thing for them is that Diablo 3 is still a while off. All we know is that it's likely to drop sometime next year. HOPEFULLY they can release something before then, otherwise, well, let's just say they could do without that competition.

@Batman: Which also made it the ideal vessel for a Uwe Boll film.

@Dannygeist: To say nothing of the abysmal storylines.

@Faux Bravo: As far as I'm concerned they did pretty well with Alpha Protocol, I really enjoyed it. Enough to play through twice with different paths through the game.

That should probably read "series creator 'Chris Taylor'". Chris Roberts was the guy behind Wing Commander.

@Strages: This isn't necessarily about how big the Mac market currently is right now. The whole point is that Steam has come to an entirely new market with an audience that's heavily separated from the PC market. When I say they've expanded their market by a huge amount, I mean that:

@Spoony Bard: Day-and-date is pretty much their stated goal from what I understand. Valve are very big on the importance of simultaneous releases.

@ParasiteX: Because it's actually the smart thing to do? This isn't just about porting Valve games. To a large extent that's actually the bait.

@Helis: Advance so quickly? This has been the slowest generation for hardware specs in a long time.

@Killer Toilet: I'm not sure it was better optimised, so much as the fact that the individual levels were more linear and you typically didn't view vast swathes of them at once.
