I was at a golf tournament a little while back. It was the final day and the last group was coming down 18. Some fans tried to get a better view of the green so they climbed up a tv tower. Yes. A NYT trend piece can usually be summed up as "something a handful of folks in Manhattan and Brooklyn are doing and were willing to talk to their report friend about". Seriously, they did one a few months ago about how young professionals in NYC are eating salads for lunch. That was a "trend" to them.
