I completely agree with SalPic’s advice below. While seersucker might be a bit much for anyone who is not a Southern Senator on Seersucker day, gingham and plaid, dark denim and decent fitting jeans are the way to go.

My relationship to clothing is very tactile. I like to touch, feel, try on - maybe even smell something I’m going to pay good money for (oh, yes, some nice suits smell amazing).
We have the exact opposite style-challenge. I’m a pretty short guy and finding stuff that fits is a challenge. There is not easy-fix, I’m afraid - it all depends on the offerings of the shops where you’d like to find your gear.
