I understand your friend’s position. The average lifespan of an ‘upper end’ laptop is 4-5 years. The average lifespan for a macbook is 7+ years. These figures are from asking quite a few people macbook owners.

If you upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and now you cannot update to the latest Win10, does that imply that 3rd party software support in future will be tied to a build number instead of an OS version (aka a nightmare)?
