It doesn’t sound like the place was closed it sounds like the kitchens were closed. I’ve been to more than a few restaurants where they close the kitchen but leave the bar open for a while. People can get chips or desserts but hot food.

If you’ve worked in retail, you understand the concept of locking the goddamn door/gate and parking someone at the door to let the customers that are still inside out.

Anyone who’s worked service knows there’s a such thing as a locked door. If a restaurant, still filled with people, is so pressed at the thought of additional people entering for any reason, why not have a host posted at the door to guide patrons out and refuse new entries?
