I’ve worked at a couple dealers checking in cars for service and it’s amazing how much money you save just by having a signed inspection form from when the car comes in. At the one dealer it happened at least once a week that somebody would say we caused some damage and we would just say ‘Well you signed our

Freight trains take miles to stop. They’d need to be on the brakes long before the gates go down, so that wouldn’t work.

On Google and in pictures of the accident there doesn't appear to be a light at that intersection. I know they're saying he was stopped at a light, but it looks to me like he was already crossing when the gates started coming down and just didn't have time to get across.

The brakes should apply more power than that for long enough to stop the car. In this instance the brakes weren't applied at all. No brake lights means no brakes applied.

As it says in the article there’s a different department investigating the allegations against the woman, and the then the Colorado State Police are investigating the accident with the train. Hopefully that’s far enough removed that someone other than the woman faces charges in this.

Direct injection cars have carbon issues as well. I’ve seen a number of low-mile DI cars with carbon buildup issues and I’ve seen carbon buildup in the EGR valve in plenty of gas engines, although it typically takes a lot longer. A DI engine that takes premium and has carbon issues will have a minimal difference in

I’ve had them go off randomly while driving and especially when driving around a parking lot. It depends on the automaker, some are really garbage. My wife’s Outback occasionally freaks out when I pull in my driveway, but other than that it’s fine.

Imagine telling someone from 10 or 20 years ago that the Eclipse would be back in 2023 and it would get a Ralliart version. They would be so excited for the future of cars.

Oh yeah. I read and listen to political content from both sides of the aisle, but injecting it into an automotive article when it’s basically irrelevant, or in this case making something tangentially related to automobiles all about a political point, takes away from the content.

Yeah, this article is a great reminder of why I’m on The Drive almost every day and on here once or twice a week when I used to read this every day. Reporting on cars and skipping the politics would be great.

I like this idea. I could sell my EV to my wife, then buy it back next year. And repeat.

I’ve heard of GM contacting dealers on cars that get flipped before the new registration even goes through, and I’m totally fine with those buyers getting blacklisted, but this sounds excessive to me. Joe Public retires, buys his Corvette he always dreamed of with his retirement money, gets cancer 6 months later and

Braking distances and reaction times generally aren't a huge factor on freeways, unless you're talking about going from highway speeds to stop-and-go. I've seen a lot of accidents on the highway and they all involved someone changing lanes and not paying attention to their surroundings.

I live about 1/4 mile from a train station. I use it whenever it will get me to where I need to go, which is about once or twice a year.

This makes me feel old. This is the last drift-only event I went to:

Having walked or biked as much as possible to commute to anywhere I’m going in my life, it sounds terrible to have to do that all the time without a car. 95 degrees with likely thunderstorms today? Can’t wait to ride my bike! High of 25 degrees today with strong winds all day? Let’s walk that 2 miles to work! The only

People are just stealing these to joyride? Seems like a big waste of time.

Yeah, why even mention that? It’s so far away.

I can’t see any valuable assets. I read this and thought maybe I should pick it up at a discount, but I see no real value there.

I really hope they don’t leave the normal car roster lacking. I love the race cars, but the most fun I’ve had in multiplayer is modding up normal cars with crazy engine swaps and such and taking them out racing. My crazy high HP Honda Odyssey is always a hoot. Pick a bad setup and you’ll just be worried about keeping
