Depends a little what brand of adapter you have, but did you check Device Manager (assuming it’s a Windows box.) if you see nothing in the Display section or an exclamation mark, just uninstall the driver and reboot. A generic adapater driver will load.

“...at the end of your workday...” - I think that’s the major incentive for the employer to let you work from home. Because so often there’s none (Or is it just me?)
It’s so easy to just jump back on the laptop and send “just one more email.”

I am making working from the office more productive by pretending I’m at home.
