Yes, in that he is a vigilante, so his character parallels the traditional superhero character who fights crime and must hide his identity. In fact, this parallel has been explicitly addressed in the show. There is no basis for interpreting that to mean "Dexter is infallible," which is what Alston did here.

If you think the message of this episode, or the show at all, is that "Dexter is a superhero and that Deb forgives him for any and everything he’s ever done" you completely misunderstood it.
