This 100%. The only person who ever told me I was pretty when I was growing up was my mom, and even that was only when I was really dressed up for some special occasion and I interpreted it as a clear lie to make me feel better about myself.

At the same time, I’ve seen more than a couple women complain bitterly that their fathers never told them they were pretty. And as a guy, it would’ve done my self-esteem some good if I’d been told I was handsome every once in awhile. It’s a matter of balance.

Season 2 was a significant downgrade in quality from Season 1. The writing and timing of the humor lost it's 'brilliance' and it shows. I suspect this was due to mismanagement on the backend.
