Forgive me if I’m about to say something stupid; I’m not an expert. The number seems impressive, but how much did they spend on Metal Gear Solid 5? From what I saw, the budget ended up north of $80 million. That’s 8.5 trillion yen. I’m guessing pachinko costs a bit less.
Am I correct in remembering the first gym in Yellow being absolutely miserable because Pikachu is so weak against rock? And you were basically forced to get a Butterfree to even get through it? I don’t know, I was like ten at the time and remember really struggling.
Also, the end of No More Parties in LA samples NBA Jam!
Thanks a lot man! Got a link for your MGS1&2 vid?
Amazing song. Classic record but easily my favorite song off it. Kanye flipping an Otis Redding sample six years before Watch the Throne, and Jon Brion’s orchestral interlude into one of Kanye’s greatest verses. Earth shattering.
There are people mad at the title?? Also, it’s a pretty great game. From what I’ve seen, even if people don’t like it (which I can understand, I disliked Dear Esther but enjoyed Gone Home), they at least appreciate its gameplay mechanic and its non-linearity. I’m not sure another game embraces non-liner narrative as…
Well at least you’re having fun! When I started ranked games, I knew ADC and jungle. Still my go to roles, but I have more mains in every lane now. If you don’t mind, I can give some advice based on what I read from you. (I’m not awful, just not technically great either.)
That’s really unfortunate. Seems to be a trend for coming-of-age games to veer into darker territory.
Thanks. And yes! I have an older brother, so it sort of tore me up, haha. Same thing happened with Warrior.
The game features a dead character who wears Driver’s scorpion jacket! Love both.
Thanks! When I first played it, I think I was with everyone else in thinking the first was better. But playing it again and writing about it, I just really fell in love with it. It feels more global and ambitious and weird. Definitely a great pair of games. And at the very least, HM2 introduced me to Carpenter Brut…
I think the game and its creators bring a very Cronenberg, Lynch vibe wherein your interpretation is as good as any, so thanks for the response! I’d say even from a gameplay perspective, Hotline Miami 2 is better the second time through. You’re now familiar with its differences with the first, and it becomes far less…
You're right. I completely missed Infinite. I added an annotation, but damn, that was a big one to miss.
Oh yes, absolutely try it out. You'll know how you feel about it after the first level. It's a game that very much knows what it is and chooses to embrace and innovate on that instead of try to distance itself from it.
Amazing game. If you want, you can skip that section. I included an annotation. But you should play the game regardless!
Thanks! And not yet. Thinking about doing so this weekend.
Any time Sega allows you to control other characters in the Sonic franchise, bad things happen. Dunno why they just don't create an original game in the same vein as Sonic Generations.
Oh, thank you kindly.
