I think anyone who follows hockey with any degree of seriousness knew that Laine was basically only ranked #2 because he’s a winger and Matthews is a centre. This was always a 1a/1b draft. The previous year was not at all a 1a/1b draft, it was a generational talent/number 1 in any other draft but definitely a bit of a

I hope she leaves him.

I don’t want to take away from what a well done article this is, but as someone in grad school for philosophy, no one should care what Peter Singer has to say about anything. Singer is just the foil that you use to develop a better argument -- a famous philosopher, but not a particularly good one.

This is so offensive. Jose Bautista was in this postseason.

Roy Halladay. “Roy” is so perfect a baseball name they used it in The Natural. And his full name is Harry Leroy Halladay III. And his nickname is Doc. Owns on every level.

He didn’t strike out the side but it was still incredible. The best part is the fact that Chris Berman cannot disguise the agony in his voice when Damon gets called out for not holding up on ball four.

This is actually so legitimately sweet and nice.

I for one would like to hear more from the employers of Ben Roethlisberger about how people should be punished for their actions.

I like how any article about announcers/journalists/whatever refusing to use a racist team name are always accompanied by photos of super racist shit.

3rd seed in the AL.

It’s so upsetting that a 12 week paid maternity leave policy is considered impressive.

Reminds me of the Halladay years in Toronto, except that Halladay was likeable.

I played for a girl’s baseball team when I was a kid. We took a field trip to somewhere in NY to watch them play a men’s team (like Syracuse or something). I have a ball signed by the whole team. It was one of the greatest days of my young life. Kudos to all the dads coaching our tiny league (only four teams) who made

Grad students and minor leaguers are basically the same people. They’ve both spent an incredibly long time specializing in something that very few people get well-compensated for, they’re both a criminally underpaid labour force for heartless employers, they’re both very good at figuring out ways to get free food,

I don’t understand why table tennis is so low. If there’s a channel showing table tennis and another channel showing some shooting or kayaking event, I’m definitely watching table tennis.

You could also just watch the superior and free CBC coverage on CBC.ca. I’m not sure if it’s geoblocked, but if it is, just get Unblock US or similar. You won’t have US-centric coverage & interviews, but you can still watching the events.

I regret whatever garbage the Leafs chose in all those years where Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lundqvist, Benn, Hasek, etc were taken with very late round picks.

LaMarcus Aldridge instead of Andrea Bargnani. Or Brandon Roy instead of Andrea Bargnani. Or Rajon Rondo instead of Andrea Bargnani.

Because the imbalance of power between a woman of colour and a white man is far greater than that between a white woman and a white man. Because women of colour are particularly vulnerable to discrimination in academia. The
