I think it's clear that deep down, Rick regrets getting rid of Jerry.
Jerry was the only one that called him out, opposed him and even challenged his views/ideals.
Maybe that is why Rick is so unhinged and sociopathic this season…he is bored out of his mind with these adventures were no one annoys him or challenges him…
