To be fair the film really gives no reasonable explanation for why she doesn’t tell her crew anything. It just happens that way because Rian Johnson wanted it to. Admiral Holdo doesn’t act like a normal human being when Poe begs her to tell him that she has a plan and that they aren’t all just going to die. She just

And reputable websites shouldn’t allow advertisors to run scripts of any kind. It should be limited to jpegs, gifs (of limited file size), and/or text and be clearly marked as adversing on the page.

I’m not talking about the beliefs and positions that the Jedi hold. I’m taking about how things actually work in the Star Wars universe as shown in the previous films. Force mastery was previously a matter of commitment and gradual progression just like any other difficult to master skill. It had at least some

Yoda flat out tells us in The Empire Strikes Back that mastery of the force comes from concentration and deep commitment. He describes the dark side as easier and quicker so is Rey using the dark side?

Yeah, this kid was supposed to be unusually powerful in the force. So powerful the Jedi council was afraid of him but notice he wasn’t going around making things float or using Jedi mind tricks or winning lightsaber duels hours or days after he learned of his connection to the force? His power only manifested as being

Exactly. I mean, holy shit. In way does the film ever imply Luke made the torpedos turn. It explicitly states that everyone’s concern is being able to hit the target not whether or not the torpedos could get in the exhaust shaft.

The thing is I really like the idea of the new main protagonist being female. I like the diversity of the cast. I just feel like the new trilogy has basic problems understanding the force and the Star Wars universe.

And it’s not like every time someone who was found to be strong in force they still had to be taken in and trained in the ways of the force previously. Nope, never happened.

I was thinking there was another cyberpunk bar tender game already out there.

I’m fine with Rey being a nobody, in fact I even prefer it. But now we’re just faced with movies that don’t understand the force because we have a character running around who just learned about her connection to the force a few days ago but is doing stuff previously reserved for Jedi Masters.

This was a huge issue for me. Many of Johnson’s unexpected choices didn’t feel “bold” to me but contradictory and trollish. It feels like that game where multiple people contribute to a story by passing it along and each person adds a sentence and there’s always that one troll kid who has to be a smartass and ruin it.

Destroying the New Republic in such a lazy off hand way was a huge misstep for the new trilogy for many reasons. First of all the New Republic represents what the original characters achieved so the audience already has an invested interest in it and in defending their achievements from the original trilogy.

Rogue One was a prequel that was fairly competent. I enjoyed it but the characters were a little weak.

Fans didn’t accept it because they presumed Leia is still a human and humans don’t typically survive being blown up and then exposed to the vacuum of space even in the Star Wars universe. In addition to that Leia was never shown to be proficient in the use of the force before this, force sensitive yes but not

Unfortunately Rian Johnson didn’t display any ability to tell a story with any logical coherence within the context of the Star Wars universe or even within the context of the previous movie he supposed to be following up. And for some baffling reason critics loved it. “Wow! This movie is so unexpected! Dropped plot

I’m waiting to hear about the first time one of these devices is attempted to be used by the authorities to listen in on a suspect via a wire tap warrant or something. I’m sure the companies that make them will fight that tooth and nail because the implications of these devices listening to you will suddenly become

I’m sorry but objectively speaking this is not a good film and now if I speak up about it, if point out the plot holes, if I point out the poor character development, if I point out how poorly it fits into the context of the previous films I’ll get called a bigot?

I really hate General Hux. He’s just there to be a bumbling idiot and he just makes the First Order seem like less of a threat.

Seriously. It’s just baffling how bad and exceedingly contrived the plot of this movie was. I think many fans are just in denial at this point and I don’t even know what’s up with the critics. The same critics who easily spot how bad Michael Bay’s Transformers films are for some reason give this movie a pass and

Hopefully they’re eating burritos instead of crunchy tacos.
