the show has gotten way more queer and with that they are definitely leaning into the kink and raunch way more, I love it.

Jim Jarmusch made Only Lovers Left Alive, starring Tilda Swinton as a vampire. And Tilda is a vampire in the show. Does that mean it was a biographical film and Tilda just hypnotized Jim Jarmusch into forgetting about the existence of vampires?

Oh same. I graduated high school in 04 so him making those two choices just fucking killed me. It was just so perfect. I think enough of the fanbase is millenials so that reference should land and it just tells you exactly what kind of teenager Colin is. I hope there are more jokes like that about him being a teenager

Blood drunk Nadja was hilarious and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her wear pants before.

Laszlo’s “I could go on” that you highlighted above is yet another hilarious read by Matthew Berry. It’s amazing how he can just hit a certain word funny and destroy you.

People liked GoT before it ran out of books and shit the bed, but they still fundamentally like GoT

He’s usually happy to do any writing that ISN’T Winds of Winter, so who knows?

There’s nothing medieval about using maggots to clear dead, necrotic flesh. They literally do this in hospitals today, that’s how good the maggots are at it.

A huge part of it is probably A. the original creative team is nowhere near this show (and the marketing has gone to quite amusing lengths to make that clear) and B. this story has a definite, established ending already in existence.

Literally the only people I’ve seen mention the wigs are “snarky” pop culture websites like AVC and their comment sections.

Second’s been ordered already, so that’s something!

It’s probably way more than 25 million since people like to do watch parties for this and they’re not able to account for that.

The wigs are fine

25 million regular schmoes?  Sure.  25 million people who can afford HBO subs?  Do you not like money?

Yeah, I’m all for equal rights, representation and all that stuff, but would it be too much to ask for a reviewer who is not ideologically biased to such an extent that they fundamentally misread major plot beats of the show (Jon kills Dany because he doesn’t want a woman on the throne, Viserys is grooming Allicent)?

who has probably been sleeping with the king in the six months since the queen died and who, I cannot emphasize enough, is 15 years old

But the writers of House Of The Dragon are doing something extremely gross: trying to have their cake and eat it too by portraying this relationship that is, frankly, grooming in a way that makes it seem almost appealing.

From this review, I’m getting the feeling that the AV Club’s take on this show may just be some retroactive GoT-bashing, which is a shame because I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the first two episodes. As someone who enjoys most of the thoughtful deep dives AV Club reviewers take, I remember being abso

I gotta say having the intro air this week made me enjoy the episode just a little bit more. Something about that theme just gets you going.

“Speaking of Corlys, he, his daughter Laena, and Mysaria are the only nonwhite actors in the entire series so far. Elf-pale Targaryens aside, this show had every opportunity to make its cast more diverse, especially considering how much (justified!) flack Game Of Thrones got for its homogenous central cast.”
