I haven’t seen this yet, but it does look fun to me. I will say that the hemming and hawing over “what IS this movie?” and the meta angle most critics seem to be settling on are baffling to me. I don’t think it’s quite as difficult to parse as some folks have suggested.

I love the show. And I’ve been in the awkward position of loving the show despite its completely lack of subtlety, while criticizing other shows and movies for lacking subtlety. I’m a hypocrite.

Just want to comment that I have heard on a few podcasts featuring hollywood industry people that the cinematographer Bale screamed at is a notorious asshole.

At this point, I’m just curious how many horrible things have to happen for them to deepfake another actor’s face over his in the months leading up to release.

The movie’s basically done. They’re going to release it to recoup their investment, and it would be cost more to recast the lead (which would require re-shoots of a huge portion of the movie), than they would make by the recast.
