Theology/Civilization makes me want to run in the middle of nowhere so damn bad.

This movie is blessed with a soundtrack that's better than it has any right to be.
Greatest. Soundtrack. Ever.
Yep.
He used Holst, which is the best classical music!
100% agree. The soundtrack is perfect and really does elevate the movie, taking it from great to all time classic.
Basil Poledouris seems to be underrated as a film score composer. Such great work in the ‘80s. But yeah, Conan has to be my favorite from him. The music plays a huge part in my enjoyment of this sword and sorcery epic.
Agreed! His music really plays such an important part in making the audience immersed in the fantasy and romance of it all.
The soundtrack still slaps.
While it’s a nitpicky point, not being “incredible” does not mean “bad”. He’s competent, but Coppola could have found another competent actor. A shame he didn’t.
Counterpoint: it’s fucking annoying when movies do that.
Gotta be careful around John Voight. He’s got a wicked set of chompers, and he’s not afraid to sink them into your arm if you get too close...
No thank you.
Nowhere in the article does it suggest that Voight is bad at acting. There’s plenty of evidence, however, to suggest that he’s either mentally unstable or just a regular fascist. I might not have written the article with as much snark, but it’s fine to be disappointed when a movie people were looking forward to casts…
Not everyone is capable of separating the art from the artist. You’re not a bad person if you can, and you’re not a bad person if you can’t, but you might be a bad person if you call other people “childish, stupid, and self-congratulatory” for having a visceral reaction to seeing someone they despise shoehorned into a…
As we are reminded again and again (especially here), just because something makes money doesn’t mean it’s good.
[James Cameron furiously erases lines on his “Avatar Sequel Names” notebook page.]
I look forward to The Way Of Fire, The Way Of Wind, and The Way Of Heart. With all of those sequels combined, we can finally see The Way Of Planet.
Don’t be silly, the characters in Avatar didn’t have names! If they did, people would remember them.
