Tenure - it doesn’t mean what you think it means.  Tenured faculty can ABSOLUTELY be fired.

Only the Big One, the P-Tr (Permian-Triassic) mass extinction, comes anywhere close to that with 90 -96 % of all species extinct [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extinction_event ]. The K-Pg mass extinction has 75 % of all species extinct.

You aren’t going to change their minds. To them, every cop is guilty by association. They wear a badge, therefor they are corrupt. They believe that a police officer should be in a fair fight for their lives. I do wonder though, if someone were attempting to beat these cop haters to death with fists, if they wouldn’t

Well, if Schreier is the one breaking this news, it’s probably already been canceled.

This is why I went over-ear and picked up the new PX7s from Bowers and Wilkins.
On-ear just gets too uncomfortable.

Management Stooge #1: Man, I really don’t want to lead this meeting. Telling half the staff they are fired is going to be terrible. You got lucky.

I don’t mind the iPhone X notch (I don’t have one and am not an Apple guy, before anyone accuses me), and in general this isn’t

The unbiased reality is that if there is any civilization out there further than 50 or so light years looking for us using these very methods they probably not see us. We are part of the “Great Silence” and the technology we are using to find other comparable civilizations is rooted in a lot of assumption.

(Stolen from somewhere on the internet, but I love the story)

Just so we’re clear, you take issue with the verbosity of this blog, but you insist on calling them haricots verts, which is a needlessly long way to say “green bean?”

The poster is probably referring to the Potsdam Declaration, which was issued a little later (July?) and demanded unconditional surrender. However, the British and Americans (China was also a signer) were in disagreement on the emperor. The British wanted to retain him as a figurehead; the U.S. wanted to abolish the
