If you agree with the endosymbiosis hypothesis then mitochondria were originally simple bacteria. They contain their own DNA, it’s circular, has a double membrane which suggests some sort of endocytosis in primitive life. What a cool hypothesis!

I cannot even imagine how this is for alcoholics -- there is no escape from alcohol commercials, billboards, bar windows, corner stores, or just people drinking around you. Anyway, I don’t think you have a trivial complaint here.
