I listen to NPR and that's how I know. BBC has also reported on the fact that the immigrant children have family here.

Man you aren't even responding to what's being said, you're just going "TYPICAL LIBERAL!! OBAMA! *BASELESS INSULTS!!*"
But a lot of them have family here, and the situation in the countries they came from is absolutely dismal. They are terrified of living there and are seeking asylum with their own family. But, you know. Just shuttle them off as soon as we figure out where they came from. Compassion!
It's less likely to be the citizens of Ukraine stuck there that are looting and far more likely that the separatists are doing it - AKA the group that very probably shot the plane down in the first place. So no, still not excusable.
did I even say it wasn't harmful? Read my other replies.
I know what you were saying. My point was not to silence anyone who wanted to talk about why they found this upsetting. My point is that people too often use others as little more than tools with which to claw their way to the moral high ground. I find it pretty tiresome, especially when the article complains about…
I didn't say ANY trans people or sex workers. I said THE sex workers - as in, the ones in the photo, the ones being used as the centerpieces for this outrage piece. I am far more interested in how they actually feel than how the people who are projecting on them feel.
So are the sex workers themselves bothered or offended by this or are we making assumptions and using them as props with which to express moral superiority and outrage? Hmmm.
Sometimes I feel weird for just not really giving a shit about religious iconography being exploited for profit. Religion is used as a tool to murder people and oppress women and gay people, so I just don't have the energy to throw a snit over socks and shirts.
I dunno if I would call it typical Jezebel radicalism - this sort of rhetoric has been cropping up all over here lately, it seems. I'm going to call it "typical misguided-but-well-intentioned-feminist radicalism"... with a cringe. And a deep sigh.
Thank you for sharing that. I actually get that way with most people I'm not especially familiar with or close to - I'll physically distance myself just from people wanting to stand close and chat, and it feels too awkward to ask them to step away from me, but I'm still insanely uncomfortable. If I had to deal with…
I get that sexual assault can be rape and that rape is sexual assault, but I don't like leaping to the conclusion with the information presented that "she means he raped her, he's denying rape like THAT! Disgusting!"
I think "we might have read things differently" isn't disturbing at all in a situation where sex never happened. They didn't have sex, he's not being accused of rape, just vague "sexual assault". So I'm thinking he went to third base when she only wanted him on second? Honestly, without details, we can't judge either…
Damn, I haven't had a game give me shivers in a while... and just from the trailer? I need this.
It was just THAT awkward.
I... don't know. He found that she was accusing him of assault on Facebook and trying to burn his company/produce (which supports more than just him) and went "no" firmly, and said why he thinks this situation may have arisen. Personally, I don't see anything awful happening here.
I think what all the "WTF never!!" replies you're getting ARE the bystander reply - it's reprehensible to leave a small child unattended, so action must be taken. If you see a kid alone, you need to approach them and get someone with authority to help take care of them. Sure, maybe the kid was "just" left alone for a…
Good grief, this comment thread is nearly a year old. You should probably check dates before replying, in the future.
Actually, what about the implant? That thing lasts for years and is just a tiny little rod stuck under the surface of your skin. Which, oddly enough, squicks me less than something dangling out of my uterus 24/7. I don't use contraception (I opted for the more efficient lesbianism birth control option) but the implant…
Okay speaking as someone who is tattooed, please stop right there. Your tattoos are as much a fashion choice as the shoes you put on or the hairstyle you choose - far more permanent, yes, but snarking on tats is not the same as shitting on a body type or physical traits which the owner has little to no control over.
