Man...it’s okay. You seem to be going through a learning process and I comend you for replying to everyone in a thoughtful matter. Everything is confusing. Because of racism, misogyny, cultural appropriation ect. Narratives become blurred and we end up having experiences that are difficult to articulate or empathize

Please let her know. Like... I was literally shaking when I read that. That’s why the word isn’t for her to use, she doesn’t even know which hair type would actually be refered to as “nappy.” I keep thinking about it and I laugh because all you have to do is look up 3b hair and it’s like really, then I get angry

I’m sorry but you're white and nappy is just not a word for you to use. Omg...I don’t care if you have 3b hair. Most black women with 3b hair wouldn’t even refer to their hair as nappy and as some one with 4c the kinkiest and most discriminated hair type I can’t even believe you would say that about your hair. You’re

By “your original comment is a trip” I meant it’s really something that you did not consider the sexual harassment and degradation that black woman face for existing in their own skin. Even now, as you state black men find you attractive because of your features, some of these same men look at women of their own race

Man, I said the same thing just not as thorough...and you have amazing examples. Let me go ponder deleting my comment...

I think the point is that you were born with your features. You did not buy them to capitalize off of society’s love for black features on white bodies. Even then, they are still seen as more attractive on you than black women. And your bit about feeling different/ proud of your features if you were black no...like

I already responded to this persons other crap comment and didn’t have the strength for this one. So nicely put. You are an earth angel.

What a beautifully written comment; I don’t even know where to start. Your comment to me is a manifestation of my views on racism. I’m not a very articulate person so seeing this subject explained so eloquently brings me to tears. The relation of power to both racist and drug addicts you use and the parallels you draw

Yes it does. This person is purposefully using this to dismiss what the original commenter stated which is that in western society institutional racism is more powerful and harmful than personal prejudices. We are trying to talk about how ridiculous it is for a white woman to believe that inclusiveness is racist

Thank you!

I’m aware, hence the rhetorical question.

Can I help you? I used an example relating to the subject matter above...I have dozens more, if that example rubs you the wrong way.

But you do understand how the interpersonal racism of people of color towards white people is vastly different from the racism that white people spew towards poc. Case in point the oscars. The few people of color who are members of the academy could have easily refused to vote for any of the white people campaigning

Some had their own names or surnames used among their peers when they were enslaved, others chose different surnames when they were freed. Not all freedpeople kept their former master’s names, but I’m sure their was a majority who did. As I said they weren’t of african origin I’m sure many did not have the resources

I’m taking an African American history class right now; we are learning about the Reconstruction Era, and yes there were freed slaves (freedpeoples) that chose their own names. They weren’t of african origin but they were their own, and they were proud.

I’ve heard in some communities that the “born this way” movement may have been somewhat detrimental to the lgbtq community now, as people within the community are starting to embrace the idea that sexuality and gender can be or are fluid; all of these things can change throughout out our life time-identifying as a

Rme at people who don’t see the obvious double standards and mental gymnastic routines that people throw themselves into when it comes to domestic violence against men.

....I wanted to say the same exact thing but I changed tabs to look up a definition and my nice long paragraph disappeared.
