All the characters in Firefly had personal stories, and the appeal was watching more of them come to light. And Lexx didn’t really have a bigger mission than “flee without dying” in season 1.

This weird little abomination lasted for 4 seasons around that time, so I reckon Firefly would’ve done ok..
