Tight spaces and overpowered shotguns? Ew.
Tight spaces and overpowered shotguns? Ew.
Yes on all counts, but remember: Infinity Ward was spawned out of developer's frustration with their publisher. Call of Duty happened for Activision because EA didn't see the value proposition of where that team wanted to go creatively. And now IW is gutted thanks to yet another publisher's inability to successfully…
I was gonna say the exact same thing. I agree that if you don't like it, don't play it and let those who do enjoy such experiences to their own devices.
Hey thanks! Really appreciate your thoughts.
If only it was my worst gaming purchase. Sadly, it is not.
The Last Hope was literally painful to play. Yes: literally. I paid full price for that bad boy during a dry spell and it still makes me angry to think about how disappointing that game was.
Yeah- breezed through a co-op campaign and that was it for me. I realized I was done with Gears of War forever. Not really a bad game but, not really worth the $60. But I also sort of knew that coming off of Gears 2.
I also remember having an issue of Diehard Gamefan with me in the car on the way to the store that had an awesome preview for Lunar, which is what closed the deal for me. Man- I think I still remember the way the page layout of that preview looked... oh, nostalgia... still holding out for Lunar 3 someday.
I distinctly recall asking for Bram Stoker's Dracula for the Sega CD for Christmas way back when. So technically it wasn't my purchase, but it was on my list, so it was still my fault.
This has been far less wrathful than I was expecting. Let's be honest, I was a bit surly in my first comment. The relative civility here reminds me of Kotaku of old, which makes me feel like even more of a dick for being sarcastic from the start...
Just curious:
Agreed on all points. I've also compared PC building to being a gearhead. I don't know a damn thing about cars, but I understand why others do and can be so passionate about it: because that's how I view my computer. It's mine. Though on occasion it's also been my problem, and my problem alone to solve.
What you say about people making self aggrandizing comments is very true. But what is also true is that a DIY rig is easier to build than it's every been. Seriously- I've seen Warhammer figurines that would require more artistic skill to paint than it requires tech savvy to build your own PC.
@Nipah
Wow, somebody on the internet got upset about people sharing an opinion that isn't the same as theirs. Shocking!!!
I understand that hardcore fans need to find anything to latch onto when their favorite franchises are subject to the realities of the business, and risk cancellation. But this is clutching at straws.
Those are video captures out of Maya. Not even an asset being rendered in-engine. Hardly enough info for gamers to be hanging their hopeful hats on here, I'm afraid.
There should be a PAX Chicago, or something like it. We need it.
Edit: I am an idiot. Nevermind!
Agreed, but with the FRAPS-esque overlay on the screen grabs, it leads me to believe that those still images were captured at runtime, and you can clearly see that the window border is at full screen. Besides, there would be significant aliasing in the 3D asset space, regardless of raytracing, at such a low display…
