We can do two things at once but there can be only one “biggest problem”. How anyone could decide that slightly warmer weather is it is beyond me.

Stop being so bloody negative and speak for yourself. We humans have obliterated smallpox, walked on the moon and traced the history of the universe back to a fraction of a second after the big bang. We’re doing great.

No citations are needed for pro-global warming comments however.

“Natural temperature variance is considered by every climate scientist ever” Yes, but usually only to explain inconveniently cold weather.

I’m not convinced by your statistics-fu - what about 9/11? Are there really more people killed by gun-toting toddlers? Also, “Nothing makes you immediately identifiable as an idiot or a willful ignoramus than AGW denial” - Really? Studies have shown that “deniers” are, on average, more knowledgable about the subject

Conspiracy theory. It’s amazing that everyone drones on about oil companies when coal companies are actually supposed to be the problem. Or do you not use plastic in your everyday life?

I’d love to hear your ‘debunking’ of temperature data.

We can measure (or at least estimate) how much CO2 we’re contributing but that isn’t any sort of proof that 100% of climate change is due to us - how could it be? Do you think the entire world’s climate was 100% stable before the industrial revolution?

“we should strive to limit global carbon emissions to stay within a 2ºC global warming target” Even though this 2ºC target isn’t based on any scientific studies and was essentially plucked out of thin air by politicians. In any case, how can we aim for a specific target when climate models are unable to predict how

“at long last, the world is taking action” Just not enough action to make any noticeable difference. A recent paper put the impact of proposed policies at 0.05 degrees C by the end of the century.

“Climate change is a big story—the biggest of our generation” Whose generation? Not mine. Climate change is a total non-issue. Ninety-seven percent of Americans think it’s not the biggest issue, while a UN poll put climate change dead last out of twenty world problems.

“The signs of climate change are all around us” Such as? Less storms, expanding Antarctic ice and highest Arctic sea ice for ten years?

Which “climate change” are you talking about - that portion which is caused by the burning of fossil fuels or that portion which is natural? How do you know what proportion each has?

How dare people voice opinions contrary to those of artiofab in a public comments section.

The basic premise of this article is completely unfounded. According to this paper:

You say “Long before we hit 2 degrees” but we’re already at nearly 1 degree and nothing has happened.

Wrong on every count, except for your suggestion that we “lack proper incentive”, about which you’re right - stopping slightly warmer weather isn’t much of an incentive.

You talk far more sense than the author of the article. Also, a definite +1 for describing James Hansen as an environmentalist!

It doesn’t really make sense to claim that “renewable” energy is cheap but also supports large numbers of well paid jobs. In any case, if it’s competitive, why does it need subsidising?

The genocide solution to global warming only six comments in.
