“Tesla is still in the best place of any manufacturer.”
Let me promise you that nobody, NOBODY, is buying these for $40k. Would you buy any Chevy at MSRP?
Nah. I’d still buy used. The new one is going to end up the same value wise in 2-3 years anyway. Any EV that’s not Tesla has horrible residual and resale values.
Dealers’ gonna deal?
I was going to argue with you. Then I saw the pics you posted. I’ll second this.
GM: “It takes 50% discounts off our electric car to sell any, and even then they’re slow movers”
I thought exactly the same. Them my wife got one. I ended up getting one for myself the very next weekend. I still think it is dorky, but it was dirt cheap and it is a good, no, let me correct that. It is a perfect commuter car.
Bet you’ve never driven one either. Oh- tell us what you drive so we can make fun of it
The Bolt is a genius car and I really like the concept, form-factor, and general thoughtfulness of its engineering. Unfortunately, I really dislike its looks. I hoped it would grow on me like the new Volt did, but that tacky little pinched headlight-to-greenhouse badge, the huge, dopey Chevy grille, and the really…
It is gimmicky. I feel like 4 wheel steering systems have been around for a long time, but they never really go mainstream. I bet it has to do with the limited usefulness of them.
There are probably some advantages off-road. The main point is, nobody else has this feature. As much as people will likely be spending for this 1,000hp Hummer, they want something unique.
The problem is parallel parking.
Quadrasteer did both.
That’s not crab-walking, though; that’s closer to Quadra-Steer from the Denali, which points the wheels in opposite directions. This points all 4 wheels in the same direction.
Imagine needing to drive around a boulder on a narrow trail. To steer a large SUV around an obsticle the traditional way, you would need a substantial distance before and after said obsticle to make the necessary driving arc in order to clear it, which you might not have room to do. With a “crab mode”, you drive up to…
It’s funny how you think the guy helping you load your new TV into your car in the parking lot at Best Buy has a retirement account.
We’re all doomed! (is what it says on the oversized foam fingers held my many cheerleading bloggers)
It’s just for bragging rights. Most of the Teslas I see on the road are not the highest performance model... Lucid will be the same.
