These last two episodes were kind of like if David Lynch directed Back to the Future 2.

These last two episodes made me realize I don’t really give a shit about the mythology. The reason season 1 and parts of season 2 and FWWM worked so well was the emotional resonance and because you cared about the characters.

Season 3 has a bit of that, but mostly it focuses on the mythology way too much. It being a

“Naido being reduced to a placeholder for Diane is another example of Lynch’s clumsy sidelining of non-white characters.”

Welp, that ending pissed me off more than the S2 ending did. I’ve seen it described like Lynch is Lucy holding the football and everyone else is Charlie Brown. He’ll never let us kick it, no matter how much we want to.
