Ah, that basically pinpoints the "All Vulcan Crew" thing as probably being Ron Moore's idea. He's the type of continuity nerd who brings crap like that back.

I think the big problem with introducing a counselor onto a show like this is that there are narrative/character needs for an episode, and there are professional needs for the character, and they don't align.

Interestingly, they mentioned a mostly-Vulcan crew a few eps back as well, when the Romulan base pretending to be a hospital turned away wounded folks.
