Ichi Bahls (Excellent name) said it best below. Sometimes you have no choice but to stop and are held there. I can personally speak to this because I got stuck on I-95 in Miami for 45 minutes a few weeks ago because protestors decided to block I-95; we weren’t able to leave until FHP disbanded the protestors. This is

I don’t disagree with your statement. There have been plenty of incidents where cars plow into protestors and it can absolutely be proven that malice was involved (as your post above PROVES). If I can concede that a number of these attacks have been committed with malice, then you should also be able to concede that

I mean...that’s obviously a no-no.

Nope, not at all. However, I don’t know if any of the drivers in this picture were subjected to threats of violence (like the driver in the video this article is discussing). That’s a key fact that you’ve conveniently omitted.

Where does it stop? Slashing tires? Breaking windows? Brandishing firearms? Dragging the driver out of the car? Beating the man when he’s on the floor? Would you have been OK with Reginald Denny putting his foot down? Let me know when... Furthermore, your comment hinges on the popular misconception that a vehicle is

If they come up to your window brandishing weapons and threatening you with imminent fear of bodily injury or death, then you’re well within your rights to do so.

I’ve never been near a Grumman that didn’t smell like it was running horrendously rich or didn’t have some other issue at idle (bad coils, bad plugs, etc...). These vehicles are being driven every single day with little-to-no concern for their mechanical well-being. The fact that they’ve survived this long is a

I’m not twisting it at all. As a general rule, self-defense only justifies the use of force when it is used in response to an immediate threat. The threat can be verbal, as long as it puts the intended victim in an immediate fear of physical harm. So, if a crowd is surrounding the vehicle and says “slash his tires”,

Now playing

The problem with your response is that you say “some way organized”. I’d say 99.9% of people would much rather avoid these protests if they were properly announced and people had the opportunity to avoid them; most people have places to go and shit to do. Furthermore, we’ve seen multiple instances in the past few

Excellent response. Thank you for taking the time to write that out. Glad some people can be civil.

Yes. That’s how this works. We don’t need to wait for them to slash tires (as they claim they were going to do) or for them to actually bust out the window. I mean...do you need to wait for someone to stab you before you fight back, or is them yelling “I’m gonna kill you” sufficient?

So when is it OK to put your foot down? Unless I’m mistaken (at work so can’t have volume on high), but didn’t the protestors say the were going to pop the tires? Do we wait for the first blowout? What about a window to get smashed? When is it ok to go?

There’s a key difference here: The car belongs on the road. The protestors don’t. Try again.

Well, in this particular situation....you kinda need to take a side, right? Also, read the comment section. Plenty of comments are defending those people.

His name was Reginald Denny. He’s a prime example of why people are allowed to act this way.

As I’ll say again... “merely inconvenienced” is a bullshit way of saying “held against their will”. These protestors have no right to hold innocent people against their will. Full stop. God forbid someone decides to actually escape....and no, oftentimes you can’t just make a U-Turn. Most of these blockages are

“Someone was inconvenienced” is a bullshit way of saying “Someone was being held against their will”. This person tried to escape and got shot for it.

Your last line hit the nail on the head. By everyone else’s logic, the 90 and 110 that came out in 1983 must’ve been absolute shit since the Series 3 was leaf sprung. Oh, and how ugly was that front end re-design for 1983? Its awful and shouldn’t have been called a Series Land Rover because they ruined that stepped

My LR3 came with sub 30" tires from factory and now I’m running a 35" (Still on stock air suspension with a re-program for the lift). These trucks can be extensively modified within reason. Can you build a rock crawler out of a newer Land Rover? No, but why would you?

This. Most people don’t understand that the old Defender was a massive pile of garbage (relatively speaking). I’ve owned (and still do) multiple LRs, so this comes from the heart... LR needed to update the Defender for the 21st century. Everyone that is shocked that the new Defender is an air sprung design on a
