Even bigger shame that people don't think of it as a basic necessity.

One time I was in a philosophical debate with a cohort, and he said I was arguing from emotion (I was not—I was incorporating empathy (emotions!) into a theory of moral duties), so I pointed out his sexist bullshit and told him that I was going to have my period all over him if he wasn't careful.

Isolation from public life due to lack of sanitary supplies is a pretty big problem world wide.

Super absorbency idiots

I loved that book! The thing was, he told her he couldn't sit on any surface she had made "unclean," and she casually informed him when he came home later that she had made a point of sitting on every seat in the house while he had been gone. I loved her for that!

A sealed box of sealed tampons inside a bag is too gross for him to hold. Wow.Good luck having a kid someday, buddy.

Wow your friends are idiots. Like, huge, gigantic idiots.

I tend to forget how bad periods can be for a lot of women, because mine is about 3-4 days, and I haven't needed more than regular tampons in years. So for me, a box of tampons usually lasts me about 4 periods, which is incredibly cheap. But when I first started, I used to bleed for 7-11 days, heavily for probably 6

Oh man, once I found a random CASE of tampons in the back of the warehouse I worked in. The kind that go in vending machines in bathrooms. It was a misdelivery or something from a couple years before. I asked my (male) boss if I could have them, he said yes without hesitation. Do you know how popular you become with

This reminds me of a gimick-blog where a guy tried to live according to the old testament for a year (and of course got a book deal out of it). It says that anything a woman touches while she is on her period is unclean, and you're not allowed to touch unclean things, so when his wife was pissed at him she'd go around

But regardless, she didn't ask anyone to pay for it, she asked for information about anywhere where they might be subsidized. Perhaps she was writing a piece on it or something.

Here's an excellent BBC article from last March that address the difficulties women in some countries face when it comes to obtaining supplies for their periods. http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-…

It depends on the person and what they use. I wear tampons for most of my period, but my endomitriosis is so bad on the first two days that I can only wear pads. A pack of pads that is able to last me through the week costs $7 and a box of tampons to last is $5. So yeah, it's about $12 a month, but that's still a

These are all terrible Twitter responses, but the ones suggesting that "the world has bigger problems," especially those comments from fellow women, are so bothersome... because one problem makes all other problems irrelevant??

Some girls are under the impression that acting as if feminim is irrelevant and useless is the #1 way to impress dudes. =( It upsets me because it's like they don't get the only guys who would be impressed by that ARE NOT someone they want to be impressing.

In many countries, girls have to forgo receiving an education once their periods begin due to lack of access to menstrual supplies and water sources to clean themselves and their undergarments when soiled. Compound that with the women who are literally shunned from their communities while they are menstruating and

How in the WORLD can someone get outraged over this? It's a legit question. It's also disturbing to me that some of the tweeters are women. I expected men to be dumb about this, but ladies that ALSO freaked out. What the hell is wrong with those women?

Whenever I see mindlessly hateful shit like this on Twitter I always try to imagine what it would look like if their tweet were passed around to people in their lives that don't know they say such shit.

Maybe we should just bleed on everything they love. Let's see how they think about subsidized tampons then.
