There are plenty of self-locking tapers and this looks like it was designed as one. However the self-locking depends on not having some dumbass lube it up.

You are way too triggered by this. It’s fairly standard legal wording in an a slightly but not entirely uncommon application.  In an increasingly litigious environment expect to see more of this, not less.

Car wash mode, as others have mentioned, just disables most of the automated sensors so your car doesn’t freak out in the wash. My Land Cruiser would try and open the tailgate whenever I took it to the self service bays and triggered the sensor juuust right. I actually wish more modern cars had this functionality.

Most modern cars with automated lights, park sensors, and wipers require you to turn them off before going through a car wash. Tesla just made those 3 toggles a single button.

Car wash mode just closes all windows, locks the charge port, and disables windshield wipers, Sentry Mode, walk-away door locking, and parking sensor chimes. 

And while it’s a relatively simple idea considering how connected modern electric vehicles are, it’s also one of those things that’s so obvious, it’s hard to understand why it isn’t already commonplace across the entire industry.

I think that is a badly written paragraph that people are reading too much into. The danger with opening the doors is that the window may not drop and you can scratch the car when the door is opened.

So the manual door release should only be used in emergency and they say that it COULD damage the door panel when used.  By that they mean a slight stuff from using the emergency release.  

You have to try to do this. The app notifies you that you have an update. You have to click start the update now or whatever the go button says. Then it gives you a two minute countdown to change your mind and cancel (or exit the vehicle). Then it starts to update. Incidentally, I’ve never had an update take 40…
