Man with the lease deals that all of the manufacturers are now offering on EVs the market for them is going to explode. Toyota can say whatever it wants, but not having to drop $75 at a gas station once a week is powerful. Seeing it in your electric bill once a month is a whole lot different, especially when many

Hybrids are the worst of both worlds. They have an automatic transmission, emissions controls system, and traction batteries, all of which are expensive to service. Before anyone claims that EVs have an automatic transmission, they actually are a single speed gear reduction box which is more similar to the final drive

Yeah, I get the conservatism. I also get that Toyota has more expertise on hybrids than anyone else, so no wonder they feel protective, but their pessimism may be their undoing.

My point is that the word is to mean the same thing

I second this. I’ve got a 2018 Model 3 with HW3.0 retrofit and FSD Beta. Absolutely phenomenal on the highway. On city streets, just pretend you’re the parent of a teenage driver: usually things are good enough, but just keep a watchful eye because they’re still learning the edge cases.

“I don’t think that something should be called, for example, an Autopilot, when the fine print says you need to have your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times,” Buttigieg said

I own a model Y with FSD.

Or people just don’t want Nissan’s EV offerings....

Backpack two-stroke leaf blowers are the worst. Not only are they fucking obnoxious to listen to, they are extremely dirty. How about just picking up a damn rake, broom or electric blower?

I own a Model Y, it’s definitely better than you’re giving it credit for.

Gonna call BS on this. Compared to driving a Model Y, a comparable gas car is like driving a farm tractor. They outsell everything globally, and clearly they are worth whatever Tesla decides to charge.

The Legacy is not a CUV, and has about 6 inches less wheelbase. Try comparing to the Subaru Ascent, $34K. The Y is more comparable with a higher trim Ascent that is about $41K.

I know you’re just trolling, but ignoring the EV drivetrain, can you get a remotely similar sized 4WD vehicle for $30K?   Not even close.

I am in the Bay Area, and I see a LOT of Chevy Bolts. I don’t think there is any stigma against the Chevy Bolt.

Now playing

As others have pointed out by others, there have been new ICE cars with fire issues and associated recalls. Shoot, Ford has a recall on Mavericks, Corsairs and Escapes where 39 burned down in recent years. Doesn’t make the news like 1 Lightning fire.

I’ve seen gasoline car fires several times. Shoot, I’ve help put them out a couple times. Not saying that EV fires are complex, but a gasoline car fires can be a pain too.

Is it really a conspiracy if there are years of clear evidence of a biased attitude?

Tesla nor anybody else ever claimed a 2014 Tesla Model S was ever going to have Full Self Driving.

That’s part of my point. This fatal crash had zero to do with Full Self Driving Capability Beta, because this car was never available with anything relating to that feature. Just like how an El Camino was never available with SuperCruise and a Subaru Brat was never available with EyeSight. So you wonder why they even

It was written such that it might make people think that FSDb was related, since FSDb had zero to do with the crash, and they were just bringing it up because Tesla.
